The real estate market on Anna Maria Island continues its rebound in sales that began in February of 2007 when prices began their steep decrease. Sales in April of this year almost doubled the total for the first three months of 2008 and May began with over 40 additional properties having contracts on them waiting to close. Realtors on the island are reporting a sharp increase in the number of showings as perceptive buyers sense that the bottom may be near and that now is the time to be active in the market while the inventory of properties to choose from is still high and sellers are willing to negotiate. The consesus prediction is that prices will reach their low this year and that this buyer's market will remain in place until the second quarter of next year when a slow rise in appreciation will begin as the inventory of available properties declines creating more competition among buyers.
